Saskatchewan Place

Saskatchewan Place is the province's ultimate facility for sports, entertainment and trade. Features such as seating for over 13,000, free parking, and accessiblity make Saskatchewan Place a natural venue for major entertainment acts and international events. Hosting over 150 events per year attracting nearly a million visitors, Saskatchewan Place earns its reputation as a world-class facility. Saskatchewan Place held its first event,a Saskatoon Blades hockey game, on February 9th, 1988.

University of Saskatchewan

The University of Saskatchewan is the center of Saskatoon's academic community and one of the city's most venerated institutions. Offering 58 degrees, diplomas and certificates in over 100 areas, the university is at the forefront in the teaching, discovering and preservation of knowledge. University researchers attract over 55 million per year in funding. The University will be home ( by late 2003 ) to the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron Project, a national resource for research. The University of Saskatchewan came into existence on April 3rd, 1907 by an act of the Provincial Legislative Assembly . The first classes began in Arts and Science on September 28th, 1909.
